  • Half Blood Prince is actually my fav movie. The emotions are played out really well and I think the characters are shown in a different light that reveals more about them, plus cinematically even if you dont like the color grading, the shots are beautiful and well done

  • I know it’s late but you’re wrong about Dumbledore not knowing about horcruxes. Ignoring the books, that’s why Dumbledore’s hand is all burned and dying, because he put the cursed horcrux ring on before destroying it. Which would have been in the summer in between Phoenix and Prince.

  • As a stand alone film my favourite has always been Prisoner of Azkaban, but I can’t help but be disappointed by the exclusion of the Marauders and their story, because I absolutely LOVED that in the book. Funnily enough though, my favourite book is Half-Blood Prince, but the movie adaptation is my least favourite.

  • I just read the last book again this week. you compared the movie to endgame and I have to disagree. the reason why endgame works so perfectly is not the fight between thanos and the avengers. yes that part is cool but its not what makes the movie so satisfying. its the portals scene. waiting like 25 movies for this one scene and finally the cavalry is arriving. that moment was missed out in the movie but its in the book. the last fight in the great hall when the house elves, centaurs and basically everybody and their mum arrives to fight off the death eaters. that scene drives tears in my eyes everyt time I read it AND THEY SKIPPED IT IN THE MOVIE?!

  • Im glad the third one is top. Its the one that made me feel things. I feel so validated

  • I rly liked the 5. movie for some reason. Its also one of my favourite books in the series and yes the kept a lot of the good stuff out of the movie (the book has around 1000 pages iirc) but I think they kept the spirit of this part way better than they did with the 4. book (god that movie was awful. the subplot of crouch was so damn underwritten it makes no sense in the movie)

  • Dumbledore did know about Horcruxes before the start of book 6. He destroyed the Gaunt family ring before the story started. That's why his arm was all fucked up throughout the story. Unfortunately, the movie glosses over important aspects of Voldemort's backstory and Harry's lessons with Dumbledore in favor of trying to be a romantic comedy (only to flub that too).

    James WisniewskiJames Wisniewski3 ngày trước
  • It's not necessarily true that Dumbledore didn't know about horcruxes... in fact it's not true. He blocked books from the library that detailed how to make them. So he knew about them. He just wasn't sure if Tom Riddle had used them.

    Neil O'ConnorNeil O'Connor3 ngày trước

  • I'm sorry but The Cosmonaut Variety Hour knows nothing about the movies. Also thee criticism against JK is unwarranted as she is responsible for the books and books alone, not the direction the movies went, so blaming the books for a mistake the movies made is disturbing

    • She was in charge of creative decisions, i think.

  • Dude. No. Like...come on man. You can’t level accusations of the movies’ writing on Rowling. Never accuse an author for the sins the movie adaptations commit. There are so many accusations you make that are in no way her fault, it’s so clear you never read the books, dude. Talk all you want about how broken the movies are, but don’t accuse a novelist for writing what went through the Hollywood grinder.

    MrBG1138MrBG11387 ngày trước
    • I couldn't have said it better myself. The criticism in these videos are incredibly unwarranted. It's obvious that his criticism is due to JK's character alone and his personal hate towards her (for whatever reason) He barely knows anything about the books, although he implies that he read them which after watching these videos seems very very unlikely

      SpiffySpiffy6 ngày trước
  • UNPOPULAR OPINION: I think this is one of the reasons why the series suffers from not having a consistent crew. Although it’s great to see different styles/interpretations of JK’s source material - the movies suffer from a lack of consistency / tone which the books gradually build on. This is most apparent in the relationship between Sirius and Harry which was built up across two-three books and why the sudden closeness between Harry and Sirius in the fifth book feels arbitrary and his death not really worth mourning. This is also why I’m not a fan of certain characters coming in and out of the spotlight. But yeah that’s my two cents.

  • When watching this I got the feeling that he has not read the books in awhile. I think J.K. world building is really well done in the books. Additionally, the Death Eater dips after he kills Hedwig to go get Voldemort because he identified the real Harry.

  • I don't know, the biggest problem for me in the Harry Potter series is Voldemort. As the main bad guy, he just doesn't feel like he should be. They build him up as this evil badass wizard in the first few movies, they can't even say his name without people pissing themselves, and even his brief appearances in the first movie were both intimidating and well done... but then, in the later movies, he's just... so goofy and dumb. He feels more like the dumb henchman of the antagonist than the actual antagonist, I can't help but laugh when I see his dumb face and his weird mannerisms. I've heard hardcore Harry Potter fans say that it's intentional, as he is pretty goofy and stuff in the books as well, and maybe I can't really complain about it as I'm not really a Harry Potter fan, but I just don't think Voldemort works as a villain. Not the main villain anyway. Maybe the series would have been better off if Voldemort was never shown again alive after the first movie, but that his henchmen were super close to resurrecting him? I mean, lots of the other villain characters from the series feel more threatening than Voldemort in my opinion. Could be just a me problem, I never hear other people complain about this, really. Voldemort: Eeeeeheheeeeeeeeh!

  • I like Sorcerer's stone for memory/nostalgia factors and just being the same age as the actors when I first watched it and just feeling the magic of the world - But Prisoner of Azkaban is definitely my absolute favourite!

  • I often say that Luna should've gotten together with Harry because in my opinion she has a much stronger relationship with Harry. Plus, she was there for him when not a lot of people weren't. In Order of the Phoenix, when nobody believes Harry when Voldemort returns and even when they cannot see the Thestrals, Luna is on Harry's side because she can see them and she believes in Harry. Plus, she was also his date at Slughorn's party in the sixth story. I agree with you that Harry and Ginny weren't utilized as much so it made the relationship all the more flat. So I'd say go with Harry and Luna.

  • i still think it's so weird that the trio couldn't figure out malfoy was Forced to do the mission? i would think at least hermione could piece together that since lucius was sent to azkaban, that would leave draco as the malfoy head, and as the person to deal with the backlash from lucius' failures,,, similarly, the fact that dumbledore knew a child was fr tasked with an impossible mission that would leave draco or his family dead if he failed and said "but if not gryffindor,,, why matter?" eye---

  • I am probably in the minority but I actually prefer DH part 1 to part 2. I love the character moments in part 1 and just them struggling to get to the next piece of the puzzle about having to kill voldemort. One of my favorite shots in the entire movie is when they are hiding in a barn and we see two smoke trails from death eaters fly overhead. It really gave me WW2 vibes and makes you feel like they are really everywhere.

  • Honestly, I like The Order of the Phoenix the most - it's different, the tone is very civil compared to the previous film, Harry's character development is awesome, the death is impactful, the whole Ministry of Magic sequence is very well done, we get new *great* antagonists (Umbridge and Bellatrix) and it just flows very well. Also the dialogues feel natural and okay. It does probably have its flaws but considering the nostalgic value and the great job with the characters its my personal favourite. 5/5

  • I agree with you in that Year 3: PoA is my favourite. As a kidlet, I looked at the posters and thought this would be a legit horror, but I had to go see it in theatres because it was HP. That sense of dread walking into the theatres was iconic for me personally, only topped by the meaningful beats to the plot and the weirdly consistent time travel
