  • "Black comedy" ? Lol I think u meant dark comedy. 😄😄

    Drew CDrew C10 ngày trước
    • I don't see the straightest line through this but think about this way, dark humor are jokes that can make people say "you're going too far" meanwhile black comedy is taking a serious subject matter but portraying it in a comedic manner to make it funny it's complicated

  • You realise it was really only the seven that were immune to guns. And all other experimental, weak or reject supes didn't have that ability. And they acknowledged that frenchis weapons could only theoretically kill the heroes but they wanted to fight them out of desperation not confidence they make that clear as well.

    Jordon BoomanJordon Booman14 ngày trước
  • You say you're not sure about how strong the supes are supposed to be in this world but the answer is really simple: it varies. Just like in Marvel or DC, not all heroes and villains have the same durability.

  • Tbh your criticism of the show, while valid, doesn’t really bother me. I didn’t notice or care much about the intricacies, the story and characters and themes are so perfect and ramped up to 11 in this season. But if it bothered you that’s fair

    Rhodri WilliamsRhodri Williams29 ngày trước
  • I feel like the fight scenes in the boys were always meant to be awkward. The supes barely use anything except their powers during a battle and nobody bothers to care about it since everyone just wants to see their powers. One of the shows main problems is how everyone is too fixated on the "super" part of heroes. All the media sees is the cape and glamor they overlook all the other mental or physical their favorite superhero has.

  • Honestly, I preferred this second season over the first one. There are a few contrivances here and there but I don't care, the character stuff is all great, and that's what matters to me. I got into show late and I couldn't get into it right away, so the first season for me only got good after the fourth or fifth episode. This season gave me the chance to really appreciate and care about the characters, developing them more, so... yeah. The only thing that worries me is that reveal at the end, which I won't spoil. It felt tacked on and I hope they know what they're doing. I have a bad feeling about it, for some reason.

  • homelander, butcher, MM, Frenchie, Hughie, and tbh majority of the cast are so damn good and lovable in their own ways. my rising star of the show was MM. the way he protects hughie in situations from butcher or just talking to him was the most human/relatable bits of the show that made the world feel real.

  • honestly the thing that I disliked about season 2 is how StarLight changed into a typicel supe and instead of an innocent girl became cynical character who doesn't even regret killing an innocent guy. Seriously she just kills a guy and shows no remorse later, like it's not really a big deal. That very much contradicts with "I want to be pure and kind and serve justice" Starlight that we saw in the first season.

  • This show is too edgy for me, but it def has better social commentary and character writing than the comic. The scene with Homelander and Blindspot in S2 was too fucked up and I became irrationally angry over it. Seeing Homefront get beat up by the women and then heat-visioned by Homelander Jr. was perfect, but I hate the fact that she might be still alive.

  • To paraphrase Dean Pelton, "We don't see our patters until they are laid out in front of us". I didn't notice the patterns in the show until it was pointed out. I'd say one of my favorite scenes from this season is when Hughie calls Annie on the boat talking about how he feels. Just hit me in my feels

    Ham8rosHam8rosTháng trước
  • This is an unfair analysis I would say. Season two makes the whole series feel complete in a way that season 1 wouldn’t allow it to be. I think with Homelander’s backstory, as well as introductions from newer supes, it becomes more evident that the powers sort of function off of a tier system. So I’ve heard the “Their invulnerability confused me” argument before, but I personally never seem confused by it so I really don’t buy it. Also- season 2 has some serious turns that were clearly set up from season 1 and were very satisfying to watch play out. To give season 2 a whole two point drop is not fair to both this show and storytelling at large. This was a fantastic season 2.

  • While there are a bigger number of small plot holes and whatnot in the season, I think the plot moved at a much more incredible pace, the whole idea and themes of this season were just so much more gripping and relavent to me compared to the first seasons "hughie wants revenge" I am actually SHOCKED that you felt this season slow. I found the first season boring at times, and I thought this season moved at a break neck pace.

  • When I saw Endgame for the third time, I began to realize that the A-force scene wasn’t as effective as I thought it originally was. My hope is that with the fact phase four has a lot of female leads and the successful writing of Wanda in WandaVision, Marvel can stop making stereotypical female characters and actually do a better job at writing actually arcs for them. I want to see an actual Aforce movie or tv show with good writing. Not one or two scenes of pandering.

  • 4:21 For real. It really bothers me especially when Hughie gave the secrets of compound V to NNC instead of using it as a bargaining chip like Butcher mentioned after they celebrated. Hughie would've been caught by the FBI early on though. Frenchie has criminal connections so he can manage evade the authorities.

  • The weakest part of the second season is when Hughie and Lamplighter go to free Starlight and break into the Seven Building, one of the most secure building in America...c'mon...and and on the top of that Lamplighter kill himself at the end for no obvious reason...

  • The reason they didn’t just go and kill everyone is because they wanted to reveal all their corruption so the world is against them. So they get destroyed in every aspect. If they just killed everyone then Vought would just make some more so yeah that was stupid but for a different reason than you mentioned. This is just my opinion. Love the content

  • When you discussed the part where they start planning on killing everyone, you leave out the crucial detail that they know those heroes weaknesses from past experience or information they had received earlier. It's only established that they know how to kill three supes too, it's only Stormfront, A-Train, and Black Noir. They would have to go through the same process that they did for Translucent had they not received that information. The supes are definitely still a very large threat at that point and to me still felt incredibly powerful.

  • The Boys was the first comic book series I ever read. I picked it up after season 1 because I just needed answers, and I partially agree with you about the comics being a bit to edgy. Garth Ennis, the writer of the comics, is notorious for making REALLY edgy comics (*COUGH* *COUGH* CROSSED). So it makes sense it would be filled with gore, little did I know just how much nastiness I was in store for. It can be over the top in some issues, but I fell like it makes up for it in its sharp social commentary and genuinely interesting lore. The entire Russia Arc in the beginning of the series was truly some of the best of the comic. Nevertheless, If you want to know what happened in the comics minus all the pointless gore and debauchery Comics Explained recapped the whole run of the series in a 5 hour video. Your Welcome.

  • Regarding the random levels of supe invulnerability, I don’t understand how this confuses people. This is not a new concept in superheroes. Spider-Man is not bullet proof like Superman. In The Boys, characters like Mesmer and Lamplighter wouldn’t be losers if they were just as invulnerable as Translucent or Homelander.

  • I think a 7/10 is doing a disservice to the second season. IMO it is the best season of television to come out this year. It’s weirder, crazier, and more wild than ever, however doesn’t feel as contrived as season 1. I could never tell where the story was going to go and the finale was amazing. I agree the fight scenes are the one area where this show is lacking but honestly the lack of well structured choreography to the fights suits the gritty realistic tone of the movie. The characters all have a ton of characterization and the actors play them to perfection. Frenchie, Butcher, Hughie, and Homelander stand out from the rest- they really know their characters well. I also love where they left this season off: every major plot thread seems to be tied up nicely, but it is so obvious that Homelander is going nuts. I can’t wait until he fully snaps. Season 1: 8.5/10 Season 2: 9/10
