I found it too monotone and boring tbh...

Dear Marcus, I watched the Lighthouse with my parents for the first time. Now I’m not allowed to pick movies on movie night. Thanks, A Subscriber
I just hope you know this movie is actually loosely based on a true story.
green goblin and Edward cullens are down bad
Best Lovecraftian horror since Good Burger.
Can someone explain to me what was so meaningful about the story without being rude. Like from a movie making aspect 10/10 but i really dont know what to take from the story. I know there are some literary nods to urban legends and sailor myths and poseidon i guess but i still just didnt feel like i knew what anything really meant in the end and am pretty surprised how it seems im the only one who didnt “get” this movie. I like movies that make you think i really do. But maybe sometimes i just need a lil help.
I saw this movie in literally the perfect theater to watch it in (The Lyric in Fort Collins, Colorado, seriously you need to check this place out) and I’m actually offended at myself that I didn’t like it more than I did. I think I’m just a bad movie watcher
I’ve seen this movie dozens of times and it’s just the best. My favorite film ever.
I freaking LOVE this movie. In my top favorites.
Maybe I'm a sucker, but I didn't notice the tentacle being CGI at all my first watch. It happens so quickly I wondered if it could have been a chainlink shot to look monstrous. Maybe that's a testament to the effects department, but I never had a moment in the movie where I felt taken out of the trippy madness of the world.
guess i'm the weirdo who just didn't like this film that much?? and i'm really bummed about it since, i mean, i respect marcus' opinions and thought we had similar tastes but i guess i was wrong on this one. sigh, big darn shame.
yeah that really sums it up in the best way, its just an utterly cerebral experience. fav movie of the year by far and probably my best theater experience ever
Watched this movie last night and it was a damn perfect movie but it fucked me up and was good at what it set out to do but I’m not watching it again because it fucked me up so much
This is the most surreal movie I've ever seen in my life
Robert Pattinson's career did such a 180 and I am so glad about that.
That CGI tentacle is animated in a way that it was made to look like a stop motion model. I don't mind that. It fits the old movie aesthetic.
I dont understand this movie
You're not supposed to understand it.
It's just another pretentious artsy fartsy movie
The movie was made we won't understand it
"HAAAARK!"
WE’LL MEET AGAAAIINNNN SPIDERMANN
The internet spending so much time discussing a black-n-white film with only 2 characters. You'd think people will dismiss this compared to last 20-30 year's standards, but The Lighthouse has sparked so much discussion and interpretation. It's just a testament to how good a job the whole team has made. That includes you, Mr. Cosmonaut (Hour?), for acknowledging it.
I wish I could love this movie more, but I have really bad hearing so couldn't understand what they were saying. Had to follow plot developments on IMDB.
I just watched this movie and oh my goodness, this was a fantastic movie! Will definitely watch again.
finally watched it and was kinda disappointed so there's that
COOOOOOL NOBODY GIVES A S**T
Same
One of the gayest intros in all of VIworld.
This litterally just looks like a 1930 movie😂
Well duh It was shot in black and white.
I liked it but have no pressing desire to watch it again.
Saw it a few weeks after it came out. Definitely going to watch it again some day.
I'd have to say one of my favorite things about this film is how it looks just so old school that if you did not know any better you'd almost swear The Lighthouse had been filmed back in the mid to late 1940s or early 50s.
I thought the movie was a Pandora’s box like scenario
Insta Classic. Pure Masterpiece.
Ya love my Video don’t ya!? I’ve seens it!
when describing the film, eggers basically considers it to be a "weird" movie, like lovecraft's stories branding ig
If you liked this film I recommend watches Ingmar Bergman’s Persona
I’d love this movie more if I didn’t watch it with my parents, who talked the whole time. My dad is way too cynical, so he was bitching the whole time and my mom is telling unfunny jokes the whole time. That and I might have been expecting too much. Edit: the reason I just watched this video is because I just watched it.
Finally a script and movie that actually does Robert Pattinson justice. He's a great actor he just really needs to break out of the "Twilight Guy" box people have put him in over the years
what';s the song by the end of the video
Marcus loves Aesop Rock and I couldn't be happier
How do u know
Isn't this movie that Flap Jack sequel?
If these walls had eyes.. They would be blind from that shed scene. The Crack Cellar Reviews: The Lighthouse - viworld.info/rock/video/yaRq2IqRu2drxok.html
His voice be goin SICKo mode
This movie is so good and fucking disturbing.
Looked beautiful in a dark theater, definitely turn all the lights off if you watch at home.
This movie was a fever dream
i just unlocked the rest of this video by watching the movie, i agree with the rating
I genuinely really didn’t like this movie. 2/10
And I genuinely really don't care.
@Turk Wilson oh yeah I love breaking bad man. My favorite show is Atlanta cuz I relate to that most
@paper chasin dude even if you've seen it I recommend breaking bad
@Turk Wilson like I said I kinda appreciate a new love for film and tv and understand great art. Shows that I didn't like like the wire and the Sopranos are now some of my favorites to watch. But yeah, I'm gonna rewatch it but yeah it's really weird
@paper chasin dude I get that, I think people think that when the plot is below the surface it isn't worth it and the whole project is dumb and/or not worth it. Honestly even without a plot I found the movie fascinating and hilarious but that's just me
gacha life music video
YES the ending song is the same as the credits
I don't get the hype. After the high praise this movie got I was excited to see it so when I did see it I felt so disappointed. Why are people so into it? Help me out here.
Because it's f**kin disturbing!
Idk all i know is that it is an immersive piece of art that I and many others can't take our eyes away from, go watch an in depth analysis
IT IS
Brooo u should watch Parasite, it's sooo farkennn good
He probably did, everyone has
This movie was pretty awesome.
so you could spoil how Tom saw the huge mermaid's vagina in the light at the end of the movie
Man I thought this video was a short interesting history of the lighthouse building
H A A A A A R K ! ! !
I loved this movie but my friend absolutely hated it and idk why,
So he has respect for Robert now??
Weird, I was sure the tentacle was stop motion ?
You should watch Perfect Blue by Satoshi Kon if you haven't already, I think you'd really enjoy it.
This and Bait are my favourite films of recent (lighthouse is arguably my favourite ever, I absolutely adore it) and I am so glad we are starting to see these incredibly unique and brilliant films getting more notice.
this is why patterson will make a good batman
Amazing video! I've been listening to Christopher Plummer's audiobook and he references Waterloo & Gladiator as one of the great masterpieces of his time. Perhaps you could do another one of your video essays on characters from those films before Hollywood makes another clumsy CGI remake of one of them like they did with Aladdin.
Pattinson's redemption arc
Bullshit
I am watching this after you memed the crap out of the Twilight movie. I can't stop thinking about Edward's emoface while watching this video.
Get out of that, RP is the best millennial actor.
Only issue was the giant mermaid cooter
It is modeled after a shark's
does anybody know the name of the sea chantey that's sung in the lighthouse and used in the trailer (and also at the end of this video)? i really want to look it up.
Yaller girls (doodle let me go)
Finally got around to watching this. Visually, it's one of the most beautiful films I've ever seen
This movie is overrated. The story is basically non existent and the dialogue isn't even half as compelling as a Tarantino movie. The acting is good, the sound design is good, and it's shot well, but that's it. The story and dialogue wasn't compelling enough.
Well it's not meant to be compared to a f**king Tarantino movie!
YA FOND OF ME LOBSTAH
Still better than Aquaman
Robert Pattinson really is an underrated actor. mainly its because of fucking twilight and people hating him for those poor films but im so happy hes being recognized for his true acting skills. i cant wait for The Batman but i hope DC wont fuck it up again
I just watched this on prime video and somehow it has a 3 star rating. Even if you didn't know what you were getting into when you chose to watch it how could the phenomenal performances of these two actors not rate higher than a 3/5 for anyone?
Love the Shrunk instrumental in the background, my man.
The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack 2
You totally deserve like 11,089,249 subs.
this movie will stand the test of time, gem
I know yer fond o me lobster
Not gonna lie I hated this movie.
Not gonna lie I hated your comment.
@The Emerald Axe it wasn't anime homie
Why?
No it isn't. Not even close.
Yes it is. Super duper close!
If I didn't know better, I'd have thought Hitchcock made it.
Well he's dead. And this is modern. No way he could've made it but It does seem like it.
This may be out there, by I see this as a movie of a man about to be executed for killing his peer. And goes crazy from being alone in his cell before so and the only person he talks to is a priest (which is ol Will’s character). I don’t know, it’s a thought
I think Joker and Ford v Ferrari should have been replaced by The Lighthouse and Portrait of a Lady on Fire. Not The Two Popes or Uncut Gems tho. The Two Popes is still a film everyone should watch in my opinion and it's good. But fuck Uncut Gems. I don't like that.
0/10. I expected more sea shanties
Finally watched the film, and can confirm.
This movie blew my mind, there hasn't been a movie that made me think of perfection since there will be blood.
“Yer fond of me lobster, say it!”.
Damn*
Dame grammar mistake
you know what's weird I watched this movie and I really liked it but I watched it again and it didn't hit me the same as it did? its weird. this happens with multiple movies too I don't understand why?
who else saw it off acid??? 😱
I wasn't even on acid and I still lost my f**kin mind!
Haaaaaaaaark!!!
Spoilers from 3:24 - 4:03
anybody else watching The Lighthouse during social distancing/self-quarantine?...lol o__e
Yes. yes it is.
Why'd ye spill yer beans
0/10 didn’t like me lobster
Lighthouse Best Movie 2019.
When i stepped out of the cinema my heart was still pounding as i was trying to process what i just saw. This movie is incredible. Watch it
If you try other language movies Please try the Malayalam(language)movie "Kumbalangi nights" "Trance" "Thanmatra" "Guru" "Kalapani" "Bhramaram" And a Hindi filming "My name is khan"(Paulo coelho has praised this movie)
I get shivers just hearing that ending song again
Does anyone know what accent Pattinson was supposed to have? My wife and I had such a hard time cause it sounded english and new Yorker? Anyone great movie! Loved watching it
It was based of a old Maine dialect
Flapjack the movie
